Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy struck gold launching Snapchat. People have become obsessed with the app known for those fun selfie filters (guilty as charged). Now, Facebook is releasing a new series of filters (dubbed "masks") to steal a bit of Snapchat's thunder.
Soon you'll be able to add a cute spooky element to all of your Facebook Live broadcasts just in time for Halloween. The selection of masks includes a skull, fox, panda, and two limited-edition filters: a pumpkin and a witch. To add a mask, simply tap the live video icon on your timeline, then click the wand in the upper-left corner of your screen. Next, select the mask icon in the bottom of your screen, and then swipe right until you find a mask you like. If you're not feeling the whole mask situation, you can easily remove the mask by scrolling left in the menu and tapping on the no mask sign.
To go along with its fun new feature, Facebook will also launch a set of limited-edition Halloween-themed reactions, which include an astonished looking ghost, a cackling witch, a sad Frankenstein, an angry pumpkin, and a skeletal thumbs up. While this may be Facebook's first venture into filters, it's not the first time the social media behemoth has drawn inspiration from Snapchat. Instagram—which was purchased by Facebook back in 2012—recently launched its news stories feature, which allows people to share and customize photos and videos in realtime for up to 24 hours. Popular international messaging app What's App also launched a similar feature that allows users to customize pictures and videos with text and emojis.

In the following months, it will be extended to more countries and on Androids devices. The cute Halloween reactions will also be available within the next couple of days in select countries.
