Throw Some Shade With the Season's Most Colorful Sunglasses

There’s a new classic when it comes to sunglasses. No longer are the oversized, dark sunnies worn by stylish celebs like Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn the ultimate go-to. Now, it’s all about colored frames. Think: ‘80s inspired aviators with yellow lenses and eye-catching pink frames instead of mysterious black.

For proof, look to Rag & Bone, which just collaborated with French eyewear brand Vuarnet on a collection of glasses with serious color theory in mind. The sunnies include rose-tinged yellow lenses, a vibrant amber-hued pair, and a frame with deep blue lenses in addition to a standard pair with regular lenses for the color averse. Available in stores next month, all of the sunglasses are made with mineral glass lenses and retail from $225 to $600.

Introducing the new Snapchat sunglasses:

The collaboration is no surprise—celebs have been sporting this look throughout the summer and into fall. Bella Hadid is a fan of yellow aviators and red round framed glasses, as seen in one of her latest Instagram posts. If you want to pull off the look yourself, you can take a cue from the model and keep the rest of your outfit and makeup minimal. A white-on-white outfit makes the dreamy sunglasses the focal point of your outfit. For a dramatic look, you can match the color of your lenses to your ensemble for a head to toe monochromatic look.

For fall, both Gucci and Acne Studios also experimented with colored frames on the runway. The takeaway here? The more extreme the shape, the better. Don’t stray away from an unusual cat-eye shape (by way of Acne) or oversized square frames (as seen on the Gucci runway). These details keep the style looking modern. Considering this look has been around since the early ‘60s when cultural icons like John Lennon and Hunter S. Thompson wore the look, they’re a classic in our book.
