Victoria's Secret Angel Josephine Skriver Launches Sunglasses to Benefit Pediatric AIDS

Wings? Check. Body for days? Check. Sunglasses to benefit kids with AIDS? Uh, check! If, that is, you're Victoria's Secret Angel Josephine Skriver. The newly minted Angel, who's slated to walk the runway for the first time in just a few weeks, is releasing a pair of sunglasses in partnership with the eyewear retailer Illesteva. 100% of proceeds of the $240 sunglasses will be donated to Keep a Child Alive, a non-profit HIV and AIDS care and treatment organization that benefits children in Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and India.

Though the product is limited in quantity, it offers consumers a more conscious alternative to high-end accessories. The glasses are a reworked version of Skriver's favorite Illesteva design, the Palm Beach, that features flat, non-reflective lenses that coordinate with the frame. As always, Illesteva sunglasses come handmade from France and Italy, and incorporate unique materials such as bamboo, titanium and natural buffalo horn. Skriver's pair are a swirly tan and mother of pearl colored pair made of acetate and stainless steel.

If you were thinking it's too late in the season to be investing in eyewear, Skriver disagrees. "I wear sunglasses year-round, and I know many of my friends do as well," she told Who What Wear. "Because I live in New York and it gets pretty chilly here, I'll wear a big chunky scarf to my nose and then my Illesteva sunglasses so I'm all bundled up." She went onto say that she's really grateful for the opportunity to merge style and sustainability: "I'm very lucky that my career has helped me have a platform to share my passion for spreading the word on meaningful causes; however, I don't think you need to have a big following to make an impact."

Model Carmen Carrera shares when she feels most beautiful:

Of course, we all have the power to create change by spending our money wisely, donating mindfully, and raising awareness for the big issues that affect the people around us and the ones far away. "I'm so proud to work with Keep a Child Alive on this special partnership," Skriver said in a press release. "I firmly believe that in this day and age, no child should be affected by AIDS,” said Josephine Skriver. "I’m grateful to Illesteva for allowing me to collaborate with them, both professionally and personally, on such a meaningful project.”
