As we near the end of this soul-draining election cycle, we’re left with little more than a shred of our sanity and the faint hope that America won’t perish into flames after November 8. But, even in the worst of times, humor can be a wonderful coping mechanism.
Humor is exactly what Seattle resident Caroline Gallegos decided to employee when she parodied Mean Girls’ iconic Burn Book entry by replacing Regina George with Donald Trump. “This man is the nastiest skank bitch I’ve ever met. DO NOT TRUST HIM. He is a fugly slut,” she wrote in red marker on the bright pink flyer. Adding the hashtags #EvilDictator (another amazing Mean Girls reference) and #DownwiththisevilCheeto to the poster next to a photo of Trump.
Shortly after covering the city with 500 copies of her Burn Book entry on Halloween night, people began posting photos of the flyers online and they were soon shared thousands of times across Twitter and Instagram. “I hope he loses the election. If my posters offend him he can try and sue me or deport me,” she told The Tab in an interview.
Gallegos was first struck with the idea to voice her distaste for Trump while watching the second presidential debate. But rather than sound off on social media or join protests, she decided to channel her anger into a creative project. “I thought if I wanted to do anything Donald Trump related I’m going to put a funny flair in it," she added.
Dreaming up Donald Trump's White House (via Architectural Digest):
Since her initial page from the Burn Book has gone viral, she’s begun cooking up more sharp-tongued entries, including one calling out Melania Trump for making out “with a Racist Yam.”
There’s promise of more burns on the horizon with Gallegos posting that Mike Pence will be her next victim. She even claims that she'll produce an entire Burn Book dedicated to Donald Trump before the election, which is just a few days away. Check out a few of the pages below, keeping in mind we've got just 48 hours til the election. Are you ready?
