The Molly Cosmetics SiliSponge Is Being Called the Next BeautyBlender

Reddit users often do some really amazing detective work to find under-the-radar beauty products. Recently, they discovered the Molly Cosmetics SiliSponge, and now the Internet has gone crazy trying to figure out what it is. What looks literally like a breast implant, is actually a tool to apply face makeup. As Refinery29 reports, it's called the SiliSponge and it's from Hong Kong-based company Molly Cosmetics. The inner material is made from silicone and the outer shell is thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)—a flexible plastic that's resistant to oil and grease. The idea is, you waste a lot of makeup inside a sponge or on your hands during application. With the SiliSponge, makeup adheres to your face instead of to the tool. The Molly Cosmetics website explains that after use, you just clean it with a little regular soap and warm water. You don't have to toss it until the outer layer shows wear.

Reddit users aren't really sold on the Molly Cosmetics SiliSponge. User 1stSuiteinEb said: "So nothing fingers can't do? I guess it's like a spatula but soft enough to use on the face. I don't see anyone other than professional muas having a use for something like this imo." It does make sense it would work well for makeup artists who need to quickly clean their sponge in between clients. Roadtohealthy points out that you can "just apply the product with your fingers (easy to clean! don't absorb much product!) and then finish off with a beauty blender."

We haven't actually tried SiliSponge out ourselves, but it's coming to the Allure office for us to test soon. In the meantime, watch it in action over on Facebook, and if you want to grab one for yourself, it's only $9.90 at mollycosmeticsshop.com. But hurry—it keeps selling out! The next round ships out December 6.
