Wes Anderson Directed a Christmas Short Film for H&M

It's been a couple of years since Wes Anderson's last film came out—two years, in fact, since The Grand Budapest Hotel was released in theaters—and we'll have to wait almost another two years for his as-of-yet untitled film, according to IMDB. For those longing for a taste of the director's whimsical cinematic style, H&M has a surprise for you just in time for the holidays. The Swedish fashion retailer enlisted the filmmaker to create its 2016 Christmas ad, which was released today.

The three-and-a-half minute film, titled Come Together, stars The Darjeeling Limited actor Adrien Brody in another train ride adventure. In this one, Brody plays conductor Ralph who unfortunately informs his passengers that the train will arrive 11 hours late, delaying everyone's holiday plans. A secret party planning involving santa hats and a Christmas tree ensues, resulting in a festive merriment that has us counting down the days until December 25. Like most of Anderson's work, the short features many of his visual trademarks: tracking shots, monotone speech, vibrant pastel hues, and a classic pop song—get ready for John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over).

The film, of course, showcases a sprinkle of H&M's new collection: a bomber jacket, beanie, sparkly pajama pants—practically everything for everyone on your shopping list.

Surprisingly, this is not Anderson's first foray into fashion. In 2013, the director teamed up with Prada and Roman Coppola to create a campaign for the brand's fragrance, Prada Candy l'Eau, starring French actress Léa Seydoux. His latest film is certainly on trend with the industry's latest roster of film-fashion partnerships. Earlier this month, American Hustle director, David O. Russell, debuted Past Forward, a film noir-esque short that starred John Krasinski, Allison Williams, and Freida Pinto. Burberry also recently tapped director Asif Kapadia to make a trailer for a biopic of the brand's founder, Thomas Burberry. And we can't forget Spike Jonze's playful dance film for Kenzo's first-ever perfume, KENZOWORLD.

Needless to say, the latest plethora of Oscars-worthy ads has us wondering if a best short campaign film category will be created anytime soon.

The best holiday looks from past 100 years:
