Dad Narrates His Teen Daughter's Makeup Tutorial—And It's Pure Comedy

If the recent explosion of male beauty bloggers is any indication, the time is ripe to ditch stereotypes around men and makeup. So this video where a dad narrates his teen daughter's makeup tutorial couldn't have come at a better time. Seriously, it's even cuter then you would expect.

Rather than take her followers through a standard everyday look tutorial, YouTuber Megan (a.k.a. Meggs and Bacon) made the video a family affair by having her dad do the step-by-step voiceover narration. And the result is not only hilarious but also surprisingly insightful. After a rough start comparing E.L.F.’s hydrating primer to the literal sweat of elves and calling Megan’s BeautyBlender "an egg that’s squishy," Dad really pulls it together with some savvy tutorial tips. First, comes the foundation. As Megan dabs on her "makeup camouflage"—a.k.a. liquid foundation—he walks us through the proper blending procedure complete with "dab, dab, dab" sound effects. Then it’s time for contouring, where he whips out some pretty funny one-liners for Megan’s highlighter.

By the time Megan gets to her eyes, Dad seems totally lost, thinking her shadow primer is a solution to her daughter's non-existent problem of dry, cracked eyelids. But he quickly recovers when it comes to the brows by saying what we all think when we pick up a brow pencils: "I don’t like the eyebrows I was given, so I’m drawing these in a little bit darker." Preach, Dad. The final steps of contouring get little bit exhausting for Megan’s dad, whose attention seems to be waning: “You could see my cheekbones before I put all that other crap on but now you can’t so I have to highlight them again.” Ultimately though, he’s happy with the final product.

Despite his funny quips, Dad calls out some makeup routine realness throughout the tutorial. Like the fact that Megan's Instagram-worthy brushes are just there to make her feel fancy, the fact sometimes you have to cover up your mustache hairs, and the truth bomb that most of us only end up using a few of the shadows in our favorite palettes. We have to say, Dad gets it.
