Gigi Hadid’s Braided Ponytail Is a Great Winter Hairstyle

When I think of braids, I have visions of summer side plaits, music festival crown braids and sleek fishtail braids that add a hint of pizzazz to any beachside fête. I never imagine braids as the perfect style for the fall and winter months. But Gigi Hadid’s braided ponytail has turned me into a believer.

Yesterday, the 21-year-old was spotted on the streets of Manhattan in a casual-cool, braided 'do, that is great for fall and winter. On Instagram, Hadid’s hairstylist, Jennifer Yepez (who’s also responsible for her killer beachy waves) called the look “rows and slicked back,” which accurately described the look. The high ponytail complimented her Reebook workout attire which was just as chic.

December is shaping up to be a month of hair transformations for the Hadid sisters. On the heels of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show (to which both ladies wore those beachy waves we’re still gushing over), and the Paper Magazine cover of Bella with platinum blonde hair, now Gigi’s high ponytail is another look to try. We can’t keep up.

Here’s the breakdown of Gigi Hadid’s braided ponytail: First, Yepez applied Honest Beauty Heat protectant and Volumizing spray to prep the hair from root to end. Then she blow-dried her hair straight with a medium round brush. Next, she cornrowed the front and pulled the rest of the hair into a ponytail. Finally, she sprayed a bit of Honest beauty Sea salt spray (to give more texture and waves) and . Done!

The 21-year-old also posted a photo of the ponytail on Instagram to show off a Max Mara Whitney bag, which, BTW is on our wish list (amongst other things) this season.

We're not sure what style she'll wear next, but we're thankful Gigi Hadid’s braided ponytail removed us from our cold-weather hair rut.
