I've never loved the color pink so much since I was in elementary school. Now, as I fill my closet with blush-colored sweaters and dresses, pink eye shadow is also taking over celebrities' beauty routines, lid by lid. It's like rose gold 2.0. Since September, a singer or actress hops on the pink bandwagon every week—or in the case of this week, a model. At the British Fashion Awards on Monday, Jourdan Dunn coordinated her eye makeup with her pale pink ensemble. Instead of accompanying her winged liner with the typical bronze or champagne shadow, makeup artist Hila Karmand swept a shimmery pastel pink from the inner corners of Dunn's lids to the center. Before Dunn, there was Amanda Seyfried. Last week, the actress debuted her baby bump while maybe hinting at what she's having with her winged pink shadow. (You can read all about the look here.) And these ladies are just the latest additions to the list.

I asked professional makeup artist Ashleigh Ciucci to give me some insight into why everyone and their mother is so obsessed with pink eye shadow right now. She says the color is "universally flattering and offers a quick way to brighten the eyes." With shimmery shades like Dunn's, the pink almost acts like a highlighter. Plus, the girlie shade is more versatile than you might think. Pink eye shadow can be an "invitation to a chic monochromatic look," Ciucci says. The same soft pink shades of lipstick, shadow, and blush can be used throughout your look, like Emma Stone's above. Or you can go darker à la Brie Larson. "Daring pink tones recall '90s grunge, which has been infiltrating beauty recently," she adds. "It's an edgy, cool, and temporary way to play with the trend."
