The GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer Is Finally Here

You hoard the masks. You've tried the tinted lip balms. And now, your moisturizer game is about to get a major upgrade thanks to GlamGlow's latest skin venture: the GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer.

After the success of its Instagram-famous mud and peel-off masks, the Estée Lauder-owned skin-care brand began tackling the mini world of moisturizers, starting with its Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer earlier this year. Now, it's introducing a mattified version of the hydrating stuff, dubbed the GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer, and yes, it's worth the hype. Allow us to elaborate: What sets this moisturizer apart from its creamy predecessor is, quite obviously, its consistency. Once I cracked open the cap, I was immediately surprised to find that the cream isn't actually a cream—it's a solid balm that breaks down into a lightweight oil when applied to warm skin.

As someone self-diagnosed with combination skin, I'm not incredibly sold on oil-based hydrators. One swipe of anything elixir-oriented to my face and I feel as though I look like a hot, sweaty mess—sans spin class. But when I applied this to my skin, it immediately melted—without the mess—and dried down to something far from shiny: hello, matte!

Perhaps it's the fact that the balm is made with magic oil-evaporating "volcanic minerals," which, after further investigation (a.k.a. taking two seconds to read the ingredients label) prove to be elevated "volcanic sand" that work to absorb excess oil like tiny sponges, or that GlamGlow knows what it's doing (which, yes, also true). My complexion was certified matte after application. Consider me convinced you can really go matte (and not just on your lips) in the middle of winter. And because this is still a moisturizer, I can't forget to mention its hydrating ingredients, which include glycerin to bring moisture into the skin by sealing it all in like a glove, and vitamin B5, which absorbs moisture from the air and replenishes it back into your complexion.
