The OY-L Face Cream Literally Does Everything

If you're still obsessed with the dewy skin look we've been seeing all over the runways, you're going to love the luminating OY-L Face Cream.

I was recently introduced to an up-and-coming natural beauty brand, OY-L. A quick bit of backstory: After her daughter fell ill, the brand was founded by Andrea Pierce-Naymon as an entirely chemical-free addition to the marketplace. It's entirely plant-based, relying only on botanical oils and extracts to get the job done. I tested a slew of products in the preservative-, paraben-, and mineral oil-free line—like the aloe juice-based Face Mist, fresh-scented Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub, and creamy Litsea Basil Body Butter. But it was the mustard-colored moisturizer, unfussily named Face Cream, that really stole my beauty heart.

As an oil-based moisturizer, OY-L's hydrator is blended with an impressive lineup of nourishing and deliciously scented elixirs to replenish the skin, like lavender, sea buckthorn, rose hip, jojoba, and prickly pear, just to name a few. And when all mixed together, the plants create this fresh, herbal, almost nutty, aroma that slightly lingers on skin without being overpowering.

As for its texture? It's probably most similar to a jar of softened butter, like the texture you'd smooth on scones or warm blueberry muffins. The golden goodness is that creamy, whipped, and lightweight. And when it hit my face (metaphorically speaking, of course), it immediately seeped into skin, leaving behind a believable dewy sheen, like you just went on a really invigorating run and cracked the most flattering sweat. (Because that always happens, right?)

Like the cult-favorite Milk Makeup Face Gloss, I found that OY-L's Face Cream also doubles as a dewy highlighter, illuminating features on my face—cheekbones, under the eyes, brow bone, Cupid's Bow, etc.—in just the right way. Basically, it's more than just a cream, it's a multitasker.
