The Sunday Riley C.E.O. Protect + Repair Moisturizer Will Be Your New Favorite Winter Cream (First Look)

U.F.O. Martian. Luna. They're not names of secret NASA stuff, but are a few of the products created by cult-favorite skin-care guru Sunday Riley. Now, Sunday Riley C.E.O. Protect + Repair Moisturizer, a rich cream that's right on time as winter sets in, joins the cult-favorite skin-care roster with a less Alien-like name. (Unless the CEO of your company is an alien, in which case, please disregard.)

But wait—there are a ton more exciting skin-care launches:

  1. The Differin Gel Is Not Only OTC Now, But Also Comes With a Collection of Acne-Fighting Products
  2. Aussie Brand Babe Skin Care Is About to Come Stateside
  3. The Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm Just Dropped

The Sunday Riley C.E.O. Protect + Repair Moisturizer, which is Riley's second tub of facial moisturizer (the first was Tidal, a lightweight editor fave great for oilier complexions), is the first product of the brand's upcoming vitamin C-centric line that has yet to drop. (Yes, you guys, that means MORE Sunday Riley products are on the way.) What makes C.E.O. so different than its hydrating predecessor, Tidal, is the fact that it's thicker (it's lipid-soluble as opposed to Tidal's water-soluble formula, which as noted above, is great for non-dry types) and is made with vitamin C—an antioxidant that works to neutralize free radicals that age you and is essential in collagen synthesis, Dendy Engelman, a dermatologist at Manhattan Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery, previously told Allure. (Plus, in our humble opinion and by no means expertise, when applied to skin with a product that's got a citrusy scent—from where vitamin C can be derived—gives us an immediate energy boost.)

To that effect, Riley wanted to make a moisturizer that retained all the hydrating properties of Tidal while also protecting from harmful pollution exposure, which can cause increased sensitivity, uneven skin tone, and early on-set fine lines and wrinkles. Quick science lesson: Vitamin C works best topically in whats considered to be its most stable forms—which is exactly the type of vitamin C that's in the C.E.O., called tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. "Any time I commit to a new concept, I live and breathe that world and become obsessed with it," Riley tells Allure. "I was challenged to go into the vitamin C world, so I upped my knowledge of [the ingredient] so I knew we were really putting out something that’s not just competitive, but [something] that’s going to hold its own against something that’s in a dermatologist’s office."

Along with its hero ingredient, vitamin C, Sunday Riley's new moisturizer is also made with lime pearl extract, which Riley claims is a gentle exfoliant that works as it seeps into skin. (We'll report back on that one, as the jury's still out.) Our favorite aspect of what's bound to be a 2017 skin-care staple? The cream's texture. C.E.O. is incredibly luxe-feeling and rich, with a light orange scent that reminds us of a fruit that's been freshly zested.

Just in time for polar vortex season, the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Protect + Repair Moisturizer, which Riley says she personally loves wearing in the winter (she told us so, guys), is available starting today at sephora.com for $65. And just like the rest of the line, we fully expect the C.E.O. moisturizer to sky-rocket to Sephora best-seller status—and sell out pretty quickly, too. One jar already went missing in the Allure office, so we'd say get after it while you've still got those Christmas gift cards.

Now, find out how to prep your skin for winter:
