Torrid Beauty: The Surprising New Launch You Need to Know About

Torrid, the plus-size retailer best known for its trendy, affordable clothes is gearing up to finally make its mark on the beauty world with Torrid beauty. Earlier this month, the company launched its debut makeup collection, in a release strategically timed to catch the attention of holiday shoppers. The 45-piece collection, which ranges in price from $6.90 to $24.90, includes lip and eye makeup, beauty tools, and body products, such as nail lacquers, bath bombs, and fragrance.

Lip color is featured prominently in the collection, and it's what we're most excited about. There are three different products to choose from in a range of finishes. There's a matte lip cream ($6), available in a versatile brick red; semimatte Lip Crayons ($8.90), available in four colors, and three different lip-gloss formulas ($ to $8.90), available in a total of nine semisheer shades. The collection also includes basic black eyeliner in both pencil and liquid formulas ($6.90 each); a $12.50 eye-shadow palette with five nude shades; and a larger eye-shadow palette ($24.90) with 12 earthy tones in both matte and shimmer finishes.

Though we haven't tested the products yet, there are a few goodies we're confident would make great gifts for the holidays—specifically, the compact mirrors, adorned with artsy illustrations of different Disney characters ($8.50 to $8.90), and the fizzy bath bombs ($7.90), each of which feature a surprise gift at the center. Oh, and the packaging? Superchic for such a great price point. While the overall color scheme for the packaging is black, many of the products—in particular, the beauty tools—feature a delicate allover floral design that, honestly, makes the items look far pricier than they actually are.
