For celebrity aesthetician Joanna Vargas, award show season means three things: endless facials, little to no sleep, and all the green juice. And in preparation for Sunday evening's 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards, Vargas had her work cut out for her. (Spoiler alert: The facialist performed a whopping — wait for it — 85 treatments leading up to the star-studded event.) Here, we take an extensive (and exclusive) sneak peek look into the busy (and sleep-deprived) life of a celebrity facialist during the Emmy Awards.
Before we begin, describe the typical facial for clients: "I do a combo of the Forever Facial and the Triple Crown Facial. (The treatment includes the following steps: Cleanse with the Joanna Vargas Vitamin C Face Wash, radio frequency, the Bright Eye Hydrating Mask, microcurrent, oxygen, and LED light.) It's absolutely the most tightening, lifting and de-puffing facial with a lot of hydration to give skin a glowing appearance for the red carpet."
Number of treatments given: 85
Number of hours spent giving facials: 80 "I usually book back-to-back, so I can see as many people as possible," she says.
Number of hours per treatment: Two and a half
Number of miles flown to see celebrity clients: 11,164 (Some of Vargas' clients include, Debra Messing, Mandy Moore, Elisabeth Moss, to name a few.) "All my celeb clients seem to know each other, so it's very normal to see three or four actresses hanging out in my living room by the fireplace drinking a green juice and catching up," says Vargas.
Number serum bottles finished: 15
Number of green juices drank: 22 "Glow Bio is my happy place," she says.
Number of hours slept: "Sadly, only about 40. I need a facial!!!"
