Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail Polish in Cool Cucumber Review

TL;DR:

A deep forest-green nail polish with a cream finish that contains a nourishing blend of oils to keep nail beds healthy

Confession: My name is Lara Adekola and I’m a Sally Hansen stan. If you’re unfamiliar with that term, let me break it down for you: Basically, I’m obsessed with Sally Hansen nail polish and have been ever since day one. As a little girl, I vividly remember being at the drugstore and going to the nail polish aisle with my mom, specifically looking for Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails polish with the red-and-white packaging. Everyone, and I mean everyone, swore by this miracle product. Whenever my nails were weak or damaged, Sally Hansen had my back and brought them back to life. So when I was asked to test Sally Hansen Color Therapy in Cool Cucumber for our annual Best of Beauty Awards, I naturally jumped at the chance.

Made in partnership with the brand's global color ambassador, nail artist Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen's Color Therapy line features evening primrose and argan oils to help treat and strengthen nails. The name Cool Cucumber is spot-on, as the polish is the same bluish green as a cucumber skin, albeit a bit darker thanks to a hint of black in the formula that ensures the shade will look good on all skin tones. The color pairs well with everything in my closet and makes a nice alternative for when I'm over wearing dark purple or blue in the fall but don't want to go as dark as black.

Now let’s talk about the wear. The formula is incredibly shiny and dried in 60 seconds flat. It lasted me seven days without a chip, which is super impressive because I'm pretty hard on my hands. I even washed dishes without gloves as a test (I never do this) and it still remained in place and ultrashiny. The wide, flat brush makes it easy to control and you don't have to dip in the bottle too many times to get a lot of coverage. After having this on for a week, my nails felt stronger and way more hydrated. I received a ton of compliments when wearing it and even got a coworker hooked on the shade. Yup, it's basically the shit, and at less than $9 a bottle, it doesn’t get much better than this.
