Kylie Cosmetics's Fall Lip Kits: Everything You Need to Know (Update)

UPDATE October 10, 2017 (9:30 a.m. EST): Butternut isn't the only Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits named after a gourd that you can shop right now for fall — Pumpkin is back. Yup, the burnt orange shade from last year's fall collection that Allure editors were obsessing has made its grand return.

Everyone has been buzzing about Too Faced's Gingerbread Melted Matte lately, and the best alternative has been in hibernation. Both shades have a similar warmth to that make them look amazing on everyone. The only difference is Kylie Cosmetics's Pumpkin isn't pumpkin spice-scented. (Gingerbread is overwhelmingly gingerbread-y.)

If you've been waiting to see when Kylie Jenner's fall lip kits are finally rolling out, the wait is now over. Friday night, Jenner revealed four new shades on her app's live stream, giving subscribers (yup, that's me) the first look. The stream started more than an hour late, which Jenner apologized for at length. She explained that she had literally just received the lipsticks herself, and she waited because she wanted to show fans the packaging, too. Jenner unboxed each lip kit, which includes both her signature matte lipstick and matching lipliner. She tried each color on, proving she's a pro at lining and filling in her lips quickly. She talked us through each shade and why she chose it, as well as how the formula feels on her lips. Jenner is really good at describing the hues, which can be tough to see on your phone.

Kylie Jenner's fall lip kits include: Pumpkin (burnt orange), Spice (true berry), Moon (beige gray), and Trick (hunter green). Pumpkin and Trick are obviously Halloween inspired, but really nice for all year round. I'm particularly obsessed with Pumpkin, which looks unlike any matte lipsticks I've seen on the market lately. Moon is one that's pulled from Jenner's archives. She explained that the gray color was actually what Dolce first looked like, but she sent it back to the lab saying it was too gray and less brown than she envisioned. Jenner called Trick "bold but wearable," since she wanted to keep Kylie Cosmetics fun and not too basic. Lastly, Spice is just a "random" name, she said, alluding to the fact that most of her lip kit names have emotional meaning to her.

Since Jenner's live stream was done at night, she swatched the colors during the day on Snapchat to give fans another look. She also revealed her new ad campaign, which features models with different skin tones all looking gorgeous in the colors. You can buy each of the four shades on October 12 at 3 p.m. PST. We have a feeling they are going to sell out really quickly. See below for each lip kit to help you plan your day-of attack.
