News flash, y'all: Just because summer is long gone and fall is in full swing does not mean you have to go darker, smokier, or sultrier with your hair color. In fact, right now quite the opposite is trending, and I'm personally 100 percent here for it.
Introducing "coral hair," which, sure, might sound like a summertime-only shade off the bat, but trust me when I tell you it actually works for fall way more than you would think. I know this because I've seen the mesmerizing hues of melted pink and orange — akin to an autumnal sunset, if you will — taking over my Instagram feed as of late.
Vancouver–based hairstylist, Chris Weber Mirlach, is one of the masterminds behind the hair-color trend and has created some of the most swoon-worthy looks on blondes and brunettes alike. "I started doing coral tones in late summer; I loved how they were warm and soft with a very relaxed vibe, reminiscent of August evenings," he told Allure. "Coral adds that perfect subtle edge, never going 'over the top,'" he added, also musing that it suits almost every base hair color, making it attainable for everyone.
New York–based colorist, Rachel Bodt, is also on board the "coral hair" bandwagon. "I am in love the with these apricot sherbet hues!" she told Allure, adding that the best way to get the look is by adding highlights more on the midshaft and ends of the hair so that the placement appears beachy and "undone." She also explains that she loves how current this color is, as it's a refreshing new take on the pastel hues we've been seeing for years now.
Feeling inspired yet? If not, peep the peachy-coral looks below and prepare to call your colorist, stat. (After all, we could all use a little brightening now that Daylights Saving has commenced.)
