KGoal and Elvie Kegel Exercise Sex Toys Reviews by Sex Educator Zoë Ligon

You have probably heard by now that Kegels are good for you. But maybe you don't really know why, or you don't know how to start your own Kegel routine. Maybe you've tried a few halfhearted squeezes here and there, but the experience didn't incorporate enough bells and whistles to keep you coming back for more. Allow sex educator Zoë Ligon to help.

Zoë, an Allure contributor and the founder and CEO of sex-positive, Detroit-based toy story Spectrum Boutique, has teamed up with YouTube channel Super Deluxe to demystify two of the hottest Kegel trainers out there: Chiaro's Elvie Trainer and Minna Life's kGoal. "Theses are sex toys that you can insert vaginally and they connect via Bluetooth to your smartphone, so you can kind of think of these devices as a Fitbit for your vagina," Zoë explains in the video. "These tell you how strong you're contracting your muscles, the duration of your contractions, and how much control you have over them."

Zoë also takes a moment to debunk the myth that Kegels are about making your vagina tighter. Instead, they're about exercising your pelvic floor muscles, which form what Zoë describes as a "web-like sling" that supports your pelvic organs (including your bladder, rectum, small intestine, and uterus). These muscles are the same ones that contract when you orgasm, and strengthening them can lead to more enjoyable sex, better stability and core strength, and lower risk for incontinence. Score.
