Imagine walking into Sephora, moseying over to the Make Up For Ever section, and instead of seeing a tester wall decked out in pristine rainbow eyeshadows, you're greeted by a mutilated mess.
While it may sound like a nightmare, it's exactly what happened to Georgia-based makeup artist Brittney Nelson. The shopper posted photo evidence of the multicolored massacre on Facebook. "$1300 of Make Up Forever [sic] eyeshadow destroyed as Sephora tonight due to a small child," she said. "This massive demolished palette makes me 😞. Makeup should always make me 😊. "
"Mammas," Brittney pleads, "please shop for your makeup 💄 without your tiny humans. It’s not fun for you...or them...or the expensive product."
The post has since gone viral and it's causing quite a stir in the Twittersphere. Many users are echoing Nelson's outrage: one appalled makeup artist said parents who "bring their kids on inappropriate outings [and] let them run rampant are the worst." Another user calls the mother of the suspected bandit child "careless & self-absorbed."

On the other hand, some tweeters are accusing Nelson of mommy-shaming, noting that leaving your kid at home is not always an option. They also point out that Brittney did not actually witness a child actively ruining the display; according to INSIDER, Brittney saw "a lady and her kid...hustling out of there," and it was "the glittery footprints" that led her to believe the perpetrator had been a "tiny human."
Nelson's hack for keeping little fingers out of pretty eyeshadow colors? "A strict ‘hands in pockets’ rule," she says, adding"...if you must take your kiddos makeup shopping I suggest trying it." Apparently, the MUA has been sympathetic upon seeing this type of incident in the past; "If I do see a kid doing that in a store I will just offer to help the mom out," INSIDER reports. "That's what us moms do!"
