MAC junkies know — the beauty megabrand never lets us down when it comes to collaborations. We've seen joint collections with everyone and everything. There's something for everyone whether you're a music obsessive who needed that Nicki Minaj nude lipstick, an Empire fan who had to have everything Taraji P. Henson co-created with the brand, or a fashion fan who stanned for the limited-edition collections with Prabal Gurung, and more recently Chromat. The brand even collaborated with The Nutcracker — yes, the famous ballet. And now, we're here to tell you that MAC has not lost its collaboration magic yet. We're excited to share the exclusive on the brand's next one — with Jade Jagger, designer of fine jewelry, and yes, daughter of that other Jagger.
The collection contains eight products, which skip the face makeup and add jewel-inspired (in both packaging and hues) products for lips, cheeks, and eyes, which will be available for purchase on December 14th.
"We live for desire," Jagger told me on the phone, speaking about the connection between her glitzy jewels and her new jewel-inspired collection."I’ve always really admired the MAC brand, and wanted to work with a cosmetic brand, so I was really excited when they approached me and we created something so in harmony with my jewelry line," she says, explaining the collaboration's origins. "I think that makeup and jewelry have a huge relationship — they’re part of a woman’s ritual when she's getting dressed, what they do to feel and create the persona that they then become, how we change from day to night." It makes sense then, that Jagger's resulting collection is glamorous — but still versatile enough to allow the wearer to transform her look from day-to-night.
The products fall under MAC's Mineralize family, which offers lightweight formulas enriched with a rich, proprietary 77-mineral ferment complex. Jojoba oil works to help the powders feel creamy upon application.
There are two eyeshadow quads ($46 each), and they're both gorgeous. Honestly. Try to pick just one. There's Burning Nights Mineralize Eye Shadow, a quad comprised of: Nano Nude - a soft beige Suede - a mid-tone brown Space - a dark, olive brown Jungle Green - a dark green This one is perfect for a sultry date night, or glamorous evening holiday soirée.
Next up, there's Golden Shine Mineralize Eye Shadow, a quad comprised of: Champagne - a soft champagne gold Rose - a rose gold hue Golden - a bright copper Brown - a deep, reddish brown This one can also be glammed up, but you can use Champagne and Rose for a fairly subtle daytime look.
As far as face makeup, there are two Mineralize Blushes ($28 each) both of which feature a marbleized swirl of shades, which helps add depth to your cheek makeup.
There's Moon Shimmer, a soft peach with brown and Perfect Bronze, a rose with brown.
A pop of color with a healthy bronze look in one compact—what more could we want?
If you want to go darker, try the Mineralize Skinfinish ($33) exclusive to this collaboration — Satin Shimmer, a deep brown with gold pearl flecks.
Lastly, there are three Mineralize Rich Lipsticks ($25 each) Opal Beach - a soft, pink nude Sunset Pearl - a mid-tone, rosy brown Rolling Red - a pinkish red
The shimmering, coppery-olive packaging each product is encased in further echoes the jewel-inspired theme. "My love of gold and precious metals, jewel-like tones all come through in the collaboration. The reflective qualities you can see in the eyeshadow quads, the glamour in the lipsticks are reflective of my own brand,” Jagger says. Rock 'n' roll makeup obsessives — pick your poison.
