UPDATE (December 5, 2017 6:30 P.M. EST): We finally have some more concrete details on Kat Von D's upcoming collab with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. Kat Von D just announced on social media that the Basket Case Anti-Precision Liner will officially launch on January 5. (That's sooner than you think.) The limited-edition collab will ring up at $19 and is sure to be just as long-lasting as the Kat Von D liners that have come before it. One major difference is the liner isn't a liquid like the Tattoo Liner or Ink Linker. Instead, the Basket Case Liner is a retractable pencil comes with a built-in sharpener. Oh yeah, and it's definitely supposed to be smudged.

Kat Von D rarely collaborates with anyone for her beauty line. However, when she does, it's unexpected, but so right. Last year, the beauty mogul teamed up with Too Faced on a heart-shaped palette. This time around, she's speaking to our nostalgic sides. Kat Von D just announced she's launching an eyeliner with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. (Be still, my teenage heart.) This has to be the most unexpected collab, but Kat Von D x Green Day makes complete sense.
Kat Von D announced this major news in the most sneaky of ways. She posted behind-the-scenes photos from the promo shoot she did for the upcoming collab on her beauty brand's Instagram Story. It started off with a macro shot of the new eyeliner. Then, she followed it up with a shadowy profile shot of Armstrong. It wasn't until the third post that truly revealed Armstrong's identity, complete with his signature look: charcoal black eyeliner smoked out around his lids.
Kat Von D later revealed that the liner will take its name from an iconic Green Day song — "Basket Case" — and will be nothing like the liners that have come before it. The ones she currently offers are all about precision and sharpness for the perfect winged liner.
Basket Case, on the other hand, is considered an "anti-precisionsmudge liner." Yes, precisionsmudge is written as one word on the black-and-gold tube. (It also features Armstrong's signature, so you know the liner truly has his approval.) I'd expect nothing less from something that's supposed to give you the perfectly imperfect lived-in liner look that inspired folks to pick up eyeliner for the first time back when I was in middle school.
A launch date for the Kat Von D x Green Day collab hasn't been announced just yet, but stay tuned. I'll be sure to wake you up when the waiting ends — I mean, keep you updated.
