Teen's Eyebrows Turn "Rock Hard," Fall Out Due to Fake Brow Gel

Sometimes finding the cheapest available option of your favorite beauty product on the internet isn't always the best plan. Wanting to save some money, 19-year-old Charlotte Knight bought her go-to brow-tinting gel off eBay for £3.95. Before, the waitress, who lives in England, usually shopped the Etude House Tint My Brows Gel for £12.99.

Once she received her brow gel, Knight brushed it onto her brows as she typically would and followed the directions to a T. The peel-off formula is supposed to sit on brows for about two hours while it dries. You can even sleep with it on to intensify the pigments. Then, you remove the gel to reveal temporarily tinted brows. However, Knight noticed something went incredibly wrong two and a half hours in. She told the Daily Mail, "I put it on for a bit over two hours, and it started to go rock hard, and it was stuck to them like tarmac." She added the gel also turned her brows as dark as Sharpie ink. Damn. Crying, she began to peel off the hardened gel, and half her eyebrows came off with it.

Turns out, the product she purchased was a fake. The Daily Mail reports eBay banned the seller of it at the end of November, and even Etude House confirmed that the faulty brow gel was a fake because the Korean wording on the packaging was misspelled. A spokesperson for the K-beauty brand also told the publication, "The particular product has been discontinued more than a year ago, and we are currently not selling the product."

Now, Knight told the Daily Mail that she'll be getting her brow professionally tinted so she doesn't risk another disaster happening again. I definitely don't blame her for that.
