Make Up For Ever's Star Lit Glitter Palette Is So Sparkly (See Swatches)

If 2017 was a struggle to get through, the beauty world is celebrating with all things dewy, shiny, and sparkly for 2018. The latest glitter-laced launch is an eye shadow palette from Make Up For Ever — and it is sparkly enough to blind you, or at least short-out your KiraKira app for a moment.

Make Up For Ever may have concocted the most lit palette of the year (it's only February so time will tell). According to an Instagram post by beauty-spotter Trendmood1, the brand is about to drop the latest addition to its luminous Star Lit collection with the launch of the Star Lit Glitter Palette ($45). You may remember the original Star Lit Palette from when our beauty reporter, Devon Abelman, recently compared it to Kat Von D's MetalMatte Palette.

This limited-edition glitter version, which looks like it was plucked straight out of the Milky Way, includes six galaxy-inspired shades. First up: Reflection, an icy white with a surprising flash of cotton candy pink glitter; Prism, a warm berry shade that mixes it up with a flash of teal glitter; Spark, a champagne shadow with gold glitter; Flame, a hot bronze laced with gold glitter; Flicker, a soft orange shade with a punch of pink glitter; and finally Beam, a purple hue ignited with ultraviolet glitter. See the swatches below.

Aside from the obvious sparkle, the coolest thing about the palette might be the formula. Unlike many glitter eye shadows, which come in powder formulas that make it tricky to get the glitter where you actually want it to go, Star Lit Glitter's shades are surprisingly smooth and creamy. You can wear them alone or dab them on for a bit of extra sparkle with one of your existing shades.

The palette is facing some criticism on Instagram, however. As some users point out, with a palette this size, you might expect more than six shades. "Very few colors in a big palette... don't get the point," one user mused. "It's gorgeous, but $45 bucks for 6 shades? Kinda pricey!" said another. (Considering the brand's individual pots of Star Lit Powder are $21, it's not that outrageous, even though you get less shadow.)

Star Lit Glitter is currently available for early access on the Sephora mobile app and will be widely available online and in-stores at Sephora and Make Up For Ever on Thursday, February 8.
