Ren Clean Skincare Pledges to Be Zero Waste Beauty Brand by 2021

In case you missed it, clean beauty is making moves to save your skin and the planet with sustainable policies and products. Ren Clean Skincare is the latest brand to make a pledge for sustainable skin care.

There's a major shift happening in the beauty industry. Not only are beauty brands stripping out potentially harmful ingredients, millennials, in particular, are demanding cleaner makeup and skin-care alternatives. Even major retailers like Walmart and Target are getting on board. It's a green beauty revolution.

Ren Clean Skincare, the brand behind some of our favorite clean skin-care products, just joined the sustainable beauty movement in a big way. In honor of Earth Day on April 22, the brand is partnering with the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit with a mission to protect oceans and beaches from environmental impacts on a "Clean to Skin, Clean to Planet" initiative.

The eco-friendly program is designed to show the same TLC to the environment that you want products to show towards your skin. As such, Ren will be participating in over 300 beach cleanups with the Surfrider Foundation with even more cleanups happening in Europe, Australia, and the U.K.

"Since Ren Clean Skincare launched in East London in 2000, we have embraced our role as beauty industry activists and have never stopped looking for ways to improve the efficacy of our clean skin-care products and to reduce the environmental impact of our brand," Arnaud Meysselle, CEO of Ren Clean Skincare, said in a press release. "Our passion for the health of the planet and our fearless approach to innovation empowered us to take the next important step for our company — extending our Clean to Skin mission to include Clean to Planet."

But that's not all Ren is doing to become an even more sustainable beauty company. It's also announced a pledge to become a zero-waste brand by 2021. While it hasn't announced the details just yet, a spokesperson for the brand told Allure the pledge will involve some major innovations in packaging. Welcome to the age of sustainable skin care, folks.
