Take one scroll through Instagram and it’s clear to see that from the catwalks to the sidewalks, short hair is having a serious moment, and this year we’re seeing a lot of short cuts in warm colors to welcome the spring season. One particular cut that really caught our eye is this rounded peach bob designed by stylists from Creademic, a professional hair academy in Copenhagen, Denmark. The splash of red, pretty peach base, and the rounded shape of this crisply shaved-undercut has us swooning.
With a firm belief that hair color is a part of your personality, the Creademic creative team mixes and matches hair color, cut, and skin tone to create a one-of-a-kind dye job. To execute the look, the team didn’t rely solely on color melting or balayage. Instead, they created a technique all their own to create this sweet peach bob. “The evolution of balayage and dip dye creates the CreademicColorBleed, a precision color technique that seamlessly blends the color on the edge of a sharp line,” Mark Martens-Anderson, creative director at the Creademic ProAcademy tells Allure. “You lay the darkest intense color/tone at the tip of your design line, and fade it into a lighter level of the same color with a metallic shade.” Designed to draw attention to the sharp edges of a cut, it’s safe to say that their technique and this berry-dipped peach exemplifies just that.
As if that color wasn’t gorgeous enough, the cut comes in the clutch to take the season’s much-beloved bob to all new lengths — and shapes. “The haircut is a round graduated bob, with a strong outline above the natural hairline to create the crisp line that pushes the round shape [and creates] volume towards the top,” Martens-Anderson says. “The cutting technique is a classic diagonal graduation in the back, with a box bob outline in zero degrees. Then the front is created using a layering technique for a softer, sexier feel.”
If you’re thinking you might want to try this technique with your next hair color-and-cut transformation, there are a few things you’ll want to know. First, in order for the color to show up, you’ll need to bleach your hair to clean, white shade. Second, in order to really nail the look, you’ll want to keep this pic archived on your Instagram in order to have hard evidence to show your stylist. Lastly, you’ll need to adjust your hair-care routine to suit your new style.
Martens-Anderson reminds us that all semi-permanent and permanent bold hair colors need special care to accommodate the sensitive color pigment in the dye. When cared for properly — with a professional color-care shampoo of the right pH-value, along with other sulfate-free hair-care products — Martens-Anderson says that this color will last for about three weeks if created with semi-permanent dye (which his team used here). While a touch-up will be necessary, as it is with all bold colors, Martens-Anderson encourages the short-lived transformation by reminding us that “at the end of the day, these colors have a lot of personality and develop over time, so this is a fantastic opportunity to create a color story with your hair.”
