It wouldn't be a day of the week if yet another celebrity wasn't rumored to be launching a beauty brand, and today is no exception. TMZ reports that the latest entertainer to lay down the groundwork for a cosmetics company is someone who has had her fair share of makeup collaborations, ad campaigns, and even a line of fragrances already under her belt: Gwen Stefani.
Although she hasn't publicly dropped any hints of the new project, Stefani's good ol' LLC, L.A.M.B., registered for four versions of the brand name P8NT (presumably pronounced paint) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in mid-March: P8NT, P8NT Cosmetics, P8NT Beauty, and P8NT by Gwen Stefani. All of the applications are identical and cover an enormous range of goods and services. The first paragraph alone calls dibs on lip pencils, eye shadow, eyeliner, eyebrow pencils and gel, lip gloss, lipstick, lip balm, mascara, nail polish, blush, powder, concealer, compacts, false eyelashes, fake nails, palettes, toner, bath oil, masks, soap, shower gel, bubble bath, eye cream, moisturizer, essential oils, makeup remover, face scrubs, body lotion, hand cream, massage oil, shaving cream, sunscreen, depilatories, hair dye, conditioner, shampoo; fragrances and more (seriously, more?).
Interestingly, the additional paragraphs of the application include retail store services, perhaps hinting that there will be brick-and-mortar locations of P8NT. It even dog-ears "Promoting public awareness in the field of beauty, fashion, makeup, cosmetics, and female education and empowerment," as well as "charitable services, namely, promoting public awareness in the field of beauty, fashion, make-up, cosmetics, and female education and empowerment." And finally, the application touches on a website that could provide "non-downloadable videos and content in the field of beauty, fashion, makeup, and cosmetics."
Is it just me, or does that sound like an empire?
Gwen Stefani has done plenty of work in the beauty industry, including fragrances under her L.A.M.B. brand, a collaboration with Urban Decay, and a Revlon ambassadorship, and she's clearly been a beauty icon since her days as No Doubt's front woman. P8NT, however, would be her first foray into her own completely beauty-focused brand.
And yeah, I'll say it: I have no doubt it will be a huge success.
