La Mer Is Giving Out Free Crème de la Mer — Here's How to Score Some

Whenever I would visit my grandma as a kid, she would open her vast beauty cabinet full of every treasure imaginable. Because of this, I credit her for my love of beauty products. Each time she let me raid her stash of Estée Lauder, Clinique and Lancôme, she generously sent me home with goodies. But there was one beauty product I was never allowed to touch: her jars of Crème de la Mer.

At $170 per ounce, Crème de la Mer is among the most expensive skin-care products you can buy. Understandably, it's a splurge you wouldn't want a 10-year-old playing around with. But now, the iconic brand is offering fans a chance to get their hands on La Mer...for free.

As Bustle reports, La Mer is currently giving out free samples of its five moisturizers — the Crème de la Mer, Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream, Moisturizing Soft Cream, Moisturizing Soft Lotion, and Moisturizing Matte Lotion — in a traveling pop-up shop shaped like a giant La Mer jar. Yes, for real.

Here's how it works: The pop-up (which is currently in L.A. and will be traveling through California this weekend, before hitting the road to a series of yet-unannounced cities) offers a chance to learn about the brand's differing moisturizer types, which it's dubbed rich, soft, sheer, balanced, and cool. In the pop-up's fermentation lab, you'll get a peek into how La Mer formulates its proprietary "Miracle Broth," which goes into every La Mer product.

Now, let's get to the free stuff. La Mer consultants will be onsite to help you decide which moisturizer texture is best for your skin-care routine before sending you home with free samples. You can also win samples in some carnival-esque games. As you can imagine, the entire experience is designed to be insanely Instagrammable — from the jar-shaped pop-up itself to the wall of Crème de la Mer jars that's reportedly worth $1,000,000.

To finally get your hands on some La Mer without shelling out the equivalent of a fancy gym membership, the brand suggests following La Mer on Instagram and Facebook to get updates on the whereabouts of the pop-up. Personally, I'll be waiting for my chance to finally graduate to a skin-care routine as luxurious as my grandmother's.
