Apple AirPods' Delayed Release Announced

If you were waiting in anticipation for the chance to ditch your regular, perpetually tangled headphones for Apple's wireless AirPods, you'll have to sit tight a little longer than expected. Apple has reportedly delayed the release of the wireless headphones for reasons unknown. "The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it's ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers," an Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch on Wednesday.

Apple did not provide a specific explanation for the delay. The announcement comes just one day before the tech giant is set to announce its new line of MacBook computers. AirPods were first announced to the public in September along with the iPhone 7. Apple initially said they would be available in late October for $159. Users will be able to chat with Siri using the AirPods, and the chargeable headphones will automatically connect to and switch between all your Apple devices.

This isn't the first time Apple has experienced problematic moments with their headphone technology. If you have already invested in a new iPhone 7, your phone came with the Lightning EarPods that users reported were quite glitchy, where the adapter would stop working and cause the entire set to become pretty much unresponsive. The Lightning EarPods were a stopgap—although maybe not the most effective one—until the AirPods were ready to roll. Apple promised the Lightning EarPods bug would be fixed in a future update, and in the meantime, we rounded-up our favorite wireless headphones to tide you over.

For now, though, looks like we're all still stuck untangling our headphone dinosaurs for while longer.
