Ariana Grande's Cornrow Ponytail Just Won the AMAs 2016

And the winner is: Ariana Grande's AMAs 2016 ponytail. There’s no denying that braids have ruled 2016. From cornrows to box braids to fishtail braids, the look reigned supreme. But one braided style we’ve hardly seen is a cornrow ponytail. And Ariana Grande managed to master the look at the American Music Awards this year.

Grande's AMAs 2016 ponytail is definitely a style you'll want to rock (or get a great stylist to recreate.) We all know the "Bang Bang" singer is no stranger to one of the most care-free but versatile hairstyles in history. (She's such a fan of the style, she even cut a hole in one of her hats to accommodate it.)

We love Ariana Grande's style:

  2. This Is What Ariana Grande Looks Like Without Her Signature Ponytail
  3. Ariana Grande Just Debuted Platinum-Blonde Hair

Three head-turning factors make Ariana Grande's AMAs 2016 ponytail a must-do: Sky-high height, sleek allure, and small braids that added tons of texture. And this isn't the first time she's rocked the look. Celebrity stylist Chris Appleton of the Wall Group, posted an Insta-pic of the star wearing a similar style earlier this month with the caption, "Werk that pony," and hairstylist Aaron Light has styled Grande's hair in one of her favorite styles, using Smoothies Bungee Bands to keep her ponytail secure. "I love using bungees, especially on clients with thick hair, because you have more control over the hair and can achieve a very tight and secure ponytail," Light told Allure in a previous interview on how he perfects her ponytails. "Regular hair bands have a tendency to slip, where bungees really stay put at the base."

One thing is for sure—we're trying the look at home and you should too. Extra points if you can master before the show is over.
