Chanel’s New Eyeshadow Palette is Glittery Perfection

Gabrielle Chanel made her mark in fashion by cutting feminine silhouettes out of fabrics traditionally reserved for menswear—think yards of tweed, gabardine, wool and woven knits, which she spun into everything from supersmart coats to those forever-cool ladylike suits. Fast forward to now and borrowed-from-the-boys fabrics still dominate the house’s best creations, including their new Ombres Lamées de Chanel eyeshadow palette. Inside there’s a quartet of four flattering neutral tones, all of which have been embossed with a textured, gold-flecked finish to appear like actual fabrics (insanely chic!).

In fact, the limited-edition shades riff on those seen in Chanel’s fall ready-to-wear collection (shout out to look #68!) and cast a glittery glow on your skin. While the palette officially launches in the brand’s boutiques and online on November 28, makeup artists are already obsessed—both Matin and Benjamin Puckey have already taken to their Instagram accounts to wax poetically about the pretty compact. Try layering the dark chocolate-y shade along the lash line and into the crease for definition, or tapping the brighter lamé on the inner corners and center of the lid for a metallic pop. To up the intensity even further—for say, that holiday party or any “festive” occasion in the coming weeks—dampen your makeup brush first and apply the colors wet so they pack more punch. We imagine it’s a move Madame Chanel would approve of. As she once said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” Check, and check.
