Gone are the days of spending hours moseying down the drugstore beauty aisle in search of an anti-aging elixir specific to your skin's needs. At least, that's what L'Oréal Skin Expert/Paris hopes to deliver with its new innovative online tool, which will take the hassle out of finding a magic potion that manages to fight dry patches and combat that oily T-zone.
With the goal to help women of all ages customize their skin-care routines in just a few clicks, the beauty giant just launched an interactive online tool, Skin Expert/Paris, which provides consumers skin-specific product recommendations, based on the results of a short quiz under the "Quick Consultation Tool." The online Q&A allows customers to share their age, their primary skin concerns, their goals ("Instant gratification" versus "Long-term solution"), and their overall complexion philosophies ("I like to keep it simple" versus "I'm always looking for the next best product.") The survey takes less than two minutes, and at the end you're offered a trio of targeted L'Oreal products, ranging from facial wipes to day creams, eye serums and SPFs. It's not the technology that's the most impressive. It's the forward-thinking idea that not all of us approach taking care of our skin the exact same way. The anti-aging cream that works for your best friend might not be as interesting to you as daily sunscreen.
"Skin Expert/Paris reflects how we begin with deep and thorough research around women and their skin-care concerns," Rocio Rivera, a neurobiologist and scientific communications director of L'Oréal Skin Expert/Paris said in a statement. "We know that women today are not hiding their age—they are embracing it in new ways. Our goal is to provide innovative tools and products that help women age beautifully and discover a new sense of self-worth."

This open-arms take on aging, while not completely new, shakes up an industry where staving off the fine lines and wrinkles that come along with the passage of time ranks supreme. Now, no matter your age—and whether or not you're in the market to prevent or diminish signs of aging—L'Oreal wants to make your life easier in just a few flicks of the wrist (er, keyboard) by expanding education around skin care and normalizing the aging process.

Along with the user-friendly consultation, Skin Expert/Paris, the beauty giant is taking the same hands-on initiative to social media with its new Instagram profile, @lorealskin, which launched six weeks ago. Here, L'Oréal hopes to better build relationships with its customers, allowing fans to double-tap their fave launches, as well as giving them one more outlet to join the anti-aging skin-care conversation.
