The Sigma Lip Switch Set Sold Out—Here's Why

While you were trying to wake up, get in your sufficient Monday caffeine intake, and catch up on emails, the Sigma Lip Switch Set went on sale and promptly sold out. The five holographic lip glosses in the set basically broke the makeup side of the Internet a couple days ago, so I'm not surprised it went fast. Sigma took everything we love about the '90s—from Lisa Frank to laser tag—and bottled it up for use on lips. One Allure editor likes to call them "unicorn tears," and she's not wrong. Each shade looks like rainbows trapped in a tube. I'm not even exaggerating.

As a lover of holographic makeup, I can attest to the awesomeness of this kit. This gloss is one of a kind. The first time I took one of the Lip Switches out of its package, I felt like I was instantly transported to a rave (minus the drugs but with the glow sticks). The shades appear black light illuminated, even when you're in the completely unforgiving and unromantic fluorescent lights of your office. Honestly, I don't understand all the optics of the neon, holographic sorcery. But I'm not going to question it because they makes me smile every time I look at them.

When the lightweight, non-sticky glosses are applied alone, they give lips a prismatic sheen that doesn't discriminate. They look incredible on every skin tone, and they feel like a hydrating lip oil. Plus, they can be layered over basically any lip color for more of an oil-slick look. (I personally love brushing them over black liquid lipstick.) So, even though in theory they're a wacky kind of one-off product, their versatility alone is a huge selling point.

The bundle is such a good deal. The whole five-piece set sold for $34. Individually, the glosses are $14. If you do the math, you'd be spending $70 if you bought all of the shades separately. You're saving $36, instead. That's more than the set costs. It's basically a steal.

We reached out to the brand to see if the Sigma Lip Switch Set will be restocked and will update this post when we hear back. In the meantime, you can buy individual Lip Switches now on sigmabeauty.com.
