It could be the weather—or the stressful election and now post-election results—but these past few weeks, my skin has been in a state of flux. Enter: Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask, which worked to combat my weird dry patches and unexpected (and certainly un-welcomed) breakouts. And it turns out, it was also one of the coolest and most Instagram-worthy masks I've ever tested, which is why I decided to document my experience, here.
For those who aren't familiar with this magic mask, allow me to introduce you: The Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask is a two-part treatment that you hand-mix before applying to your face (more on that later). It delivers a generous splash of hydration when your skin is feeling particularly dry, thanks to hydrating heavy-hitters hyaluronic acid and glycerin. How does it work? The real superstar is algin, which, when combined with water, forms a rubbery moisture tight barrier that allows for enhanced penetration of active ingredients. (With regular masks, some of the good stuff evaporates away.)
The system comes with a packet filled with "Hyaluronic Cushion Gel" and its "Activating Powder" counterpart, which I mixed together before smearing along my freshly washed complexion. (And that's important: Make sure you've lathered up before you start the masking process because the treatment works best on a clean canvas.)
Once I was satisfied with the texture of the blue goo ('00s kids, it should look like the infamous green slime from Nickelodeon's Slime Time Live), I whipped out the kit's plastic spoon and started slathering the gloop onto my face, avoiding the eye area. Once it was settled, I kicked back and waited for the treatment to dry and transform into a peel-off mask.

After about five to seven minutes of rocking my Blue Man Group face, I felt the batter-like formula starting shifting towards a gel-like texture, the edges of which started lifting ever so slightly, which, believe me when I say, was extremely satisfying. There's just something about ripping off the mask to reveal a supple, smooth complexion that felt so good. The result was Gigi skin-level good. I felt completely confident without a stitch of makeup for the rest of the night—even with a fresh breakout chilling on my chin.
