I can’t remember I time when M.A.C. Cosmetics wasn’t in my makeup bag. Ever since I was old enough to wear lipstick (my parents made me wait until I was 16-years-old) I’ve owned some type of M.A.C. lipstick. Without question, the cosmetics brand holds a special place in my heart.
As a teenager, I only wore gloss finishes; I eventually moved on to semi-matte, and now I’m a full fledged matte girl. TBH, I haven’t worn glossy lipstick in over 6 months and I’m (kind of) proud of it. I’m a matte girl and M.A.C. Cosmetics has fueled my love for that finish. But just when I thought I couldn’t love another matte collection from the mega brand (here’s looking at you Selena collection), they introduced eight new shades from the Retro Matte lipstick collection that sends me back to the ‘90s. The shades run the gamut from a warm mid-tone nude to a blackened teal—all in a liquid-suede finish that claim to be very pigmented.

I haven’t tested the new shades, but from the looks of things, Chocotease will probably be my favorite. It’s a warm chocolate brown that would pair perfect with my almond toned skin. I’m also eyeing High Drama, a deep dark plum that appears to have blue undertones. I’m excited to try them alone, layered with each other or mixed with other MAC collections. And, of course add them to my ever-growing makeup bag. So many lipsticks, such little time.
The M.A.C. Cosmetics Retro Matte lipstick collection is available online now, in select markets for $21.
