We've all been there: You're scrolling through Instagram and you a see a drool-worthy food snapshot from a restaurant you're dying to try, or maybe you spot an #OOTD that you'd considering taking out for a test drive yourself. So you screenshot whatever memorable post you came across, and it goes directly into the depths of your camera roll, probably never to be seen again. That is, until now.
Finally, Instagram is here to help with this problem, which we didn't really even realize was a problem until now: The app is launching an update that gives users the ability to save Instagram posts in-app. Meaning, all your Too Faced screenshots (because we know you take them, too) and DIY beauty hacks can be re-visited in a single tap.
More social media updates to check out:
- You Can Now Live-Stream Your #OOTD on Instagram
- Instagram Introduces Two New (but Very Familiar) Features
- Get Your First Look at Apple's New Emojis
The new feature, which hits phones everywhere today, will add a new bookmark icon below photos in your feed, next to the existing ones for liking, commenting, and direct messaging. When you see a post you want to save to ogle at later, tap the icon, and it will automatically save the post to a new tab in your profile that's only visible to you. Check out what we mean:

If it seems like you're fielding new updates to your Instagram app every other day, you might be on to something. The app has been introducing a lot of new features lately, mainly in the service of protecting users from trolls and integrating video, including Stories and live video, like many other social platforms.
But the Pinterest-esque addition of saved posts is a welcome change to our main source of photographic inspo. If Instagram wants to combine all our favorite apps into one, that's just fine with us.
