If there's one thing we can all agree on in 2016, it's that the world currently has rose gold fever. The metallic hue has gone from trend to full-on obsession (I mean, have you seen Neiman Marcus's $1.5 million plane in the pinkish tint?! Or Nike's stunning rose gold collection?). And now M.A.C.'s Rose Gold Pigment is one of Pinterest's buzziest ways to get the look for yourself.
Pinterest named rose gold as one of the top winter beauty trends of the year, with searches up 190 percent. While there are hundreds of tutorials on how to incorporate this feminine metal into your beauty routine, the M.A.C. Rose Gold Pigment is one of the prettiest, and most popular, ways, trending with more than 54,000 repins. The loose pigment has been a cult-favorite for a long time now, but I confess—I hadn't tried it for myself until this rose-tinted metallic caught my eye on, well, my Pinterest feed. Boy, was I missing out. The glitter is super smooth so you can tap it on with your fingers and still get major sparkle—this isn't one of those shadows that goes on more translucent. I'd say it's the perfect eye shadow option for the girl who oversleeps and only has minutes to get ready in the morning. For a more dramatic look, use a wet brush to apply the pigment to your lids.

What I love most about this type of pigment is that it's so versatile. And what I love about this specific pigment is that the color has a good amount of gold in it (making it not too rosy, which can look a bit juvenile). While I tested the glitter as an eye shadow, I left it out in my apartment where my roommate picked it up and immediately pressed it onto her cheekbones as a highlighter, which blended in nicely with her blush, adding warmth to her already glow-y complexion.
But since the pigments are loosely packaged in containers, I'll be the first to warn you: One sudden movement and you're in danger of getting glitter everywhere. Just ask my jeans. Or my phone case. Or the coworker at the desk across from mine...glitter has a way of spreading. Luckily, this M.A.C. shadow is easy to remove with a makeup wipe. But even so, is some extra rose gold shimmer in your life really such a bad thing?
