Amazon is already your go-to in the world of online shopping—seriously, can you even remember a world without Prime? (When it comes to beauty products, Amazon is a whole other story, so we'll leave that for another time.) So it should be no surprise then, that the site's first big venture into brick-and-mortar retail is totally revolutionary in the most technological of ways: Meet the Amazon Grocery store of the future and of your dreams— mostly because it has NO LINES. In fact, it has no cash registers at all. And when you go to the Amazon grocery store, which is called Amazon Go, you can literally grab your food and walk out, no checkout required.

Upon arriving at the futuristic store, shoppers sign in with their app. Reportedly using the same technology as self-driving cars—think computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning—Amazon Go keeps track of what you're picking up as you make your way through the store, and automatically place the item in your virtual shopping cart in the app. (If you change your mind about something you grabbed, the app will pick up on that too and automatically delete from your cart.) When you're done, you just leave; Amazon just charges your card and emails you a receipt. So yeah, it's that easy. Almost like stealing candy from a baby.
To shop at the stores, which will all be a compact 1,800 square feet, you just need an Amazon account, the Amazon Go app, and a smartphone. (Which we feel like we all have now that 2016 is coming to a close, yes?) Despite the relatively small size, the product range is large: Amazon Go stores will sell everything from classic grocery staples to ready-made options, and they'll feature both well-known and newer brands.
Best part? They're coming sooner than you think: The first location in Seattle is currently in Beta (meaning it's only currently open to Amazon employees), but doors are expected to open to the public in early 2017. And Business Insider reports that this is just the beginning: Amazon plans to build as many as 2,000 grocery stores nationwide within the next decade.

At this rate, it's only a matter of time before Amazon takes over the world.
