This Dad’s Makeup Sponge Fail Will Make Your Day

I remember the first time I wanted to wear nail polish as a child. My mom was all for it but my dad was not, something I’m sure many fathers can relate to. When it comes to girls and makeup, dads are either against it or uninterested, but when a dad decides to gain interest in their daughter's makeup it can be a beautiful bonding experience.

One Reddit user’s father delved into the world of makeup for his daughter and it’s probably the sweetest thing ever. In a post to the Reddit group Makeup Addiction, Reddit user gina_marie shared a photo of a small rectangular craft sponge stating that her dad gifted it to her to use for applying makeup.

Que the feels.

“He said he went to Menards and was getting stuff to paint a helmet and he saw the sponges on a stick and thought, ‘well she does put on makeup with a sponge, so why not get her one on a stick so it'll be easier to control.’ I graciously thanked him for it and promised I would try it out,” Gina Marie wrote about her dad's makeup sponge fail.

A home improvement store is probably not the best place to shop for makeup tools, but you have to give the guy props for creativity. Even if a craft sponge is meant for paint (and may not be ideal for a flawless foundation application) , it's the thought that counts. It's not often you find dads helping their daughters makeup routine, let alone show any interest in it. Many others were also touched by the dad's makeup sponge fail and filled Marie's thread with sweet comments.

But hold on, this makeup sponge fail gets sweeter. As reported by Refinery 29, there's an even more heart-felt reason why this dad is so supportive of his daughter wearing makeup. “His mother modeled for Estée Lauder and I think it makes him think of his mother when I talk about new foundations I'm trying or new lip colors. He says I look like her, too. It's something nice we can talk and bond over," Marie added to the thread.

Which actually reminds me my dad told me my eyes looked 'nice and different' the other day (his way of complementing my mascara). Thanks dad, your makeup recognition hasn't gone unnoticed.
