Natalie Portman's Golden Globes Makeup Look Channeled Jackie O. Perfectly

In what is a perfect example of life imitating art, Natalie Portman's Golden Globes makeup look evoked the role she played, and was nominated for, this year: Jackie Kennedy Onassis. “Natalie’s dress has a classic 50’s feel that is very ‘Jackie,'" said her makeup artist Pati Dubroff. "For this look, we did a nod to this era while keeping it super feminine and optimistic; the makeup was focused around a strong brow and warm dewy skin, while the eyes were kept more defined. Her lips were given a bright dose of color with a fresh and flirty sheen."

As you can see from Dubroff's mood board below, Jackie O.—along with other '50s beauty icons like Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor—served as Dubroff's inspiration for the makeup (along with Portman's bright yellow Prada dress):

As for the main points of the look, Dubroff had a few tricks up her sleeve. To create full, feathery brows (or rather, improve upon Portman's already awesome arches) she used two different tones from the Dior Diorshow All-in-Brow 3D Long-Wear Brow Kit. "This builds color and gives good definition," said Dubroff.

The gorgeous pink stain was a combination of a few products, which Dubroff captured on her Instagram account. But she didn't apply them how you'd think. Dubroff started with Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in Opéra, putting the creamy formula on the lips as a stain rather than full-on and opaque. Then, she lined the lips using Dior Rouge Dior Lipliner in New World Matte and topped it all off with a touch of Dior Addict Lipstick in Ultra Dior for a slightly shiny finish. "This combination made a beautiful, custom pink with a touch of color," said Dubroff.

Finally, Dubroff found a genius (and pretty) way to tie in Portman's sunny yellow dress—a hard shade to match, makeup-wise. After blending a soft brown powder eye shadow to the creases of the eyes, Dubroff spread Diorshow Fusion Mono in Millenium to the center of the lids. "This effect gave off a khaki-gold gleam to play up the colors in Natalie’s chartreuse dress," Dubroff explained.
