Purple, green, blue — highlighters officially come in every color of the rainbow these days. Most of the technicolor hues have a tendency to appear chalky on deep skin tones, though, due to their white bases. The highlighters from MTF Cosmetics are some serious exceptions. The indie beauty brand focuses on making affordable highlighters that flatter women of color, and the brand is about to drop a rose gold version that won't look the least bit ashy.
MTF teamed up with Makeup For WOC's Tiara Willis for its newest highlighter shade, aptly named Tiara. Unfamiliar with Makeup For WOC? Willis shares swatches and news for black-owned beauty brands for her nearly 200,000 followers on social media. With this in mind, she has experience with testing out the latest highlighter offerings.
As PopSugar reported, Willis explained why she decided to create the rose gold highlighter on MTF's website. "My content is about the beauty of those underrepresented in the makeup community," she wrote. "Therefore, creating a highlighter suited for deeper skin tones was important to me. This product is for us, by us."
The rose gold highlighter will come in loose powder form, so you can even sprinkle some into your foundation for a more illuminating base. Based on the swatches below, it looks incredibly pigmented and gives skin a natural-looking golden glow.
