This Woman Cut off 21 Inches to Transform Her Hair Into a Short Bob

Basically every day is Transformation Tuesday on Joie Wallace's Instagram. The Virginia-based stylist specializes in hair transformations, taking her clients from blonde to rose gold or Rapunzel to pixie. However, one of the stylist's latest makeover is by far one of the most stunning that she's posted over the past couple weeks. Wallace cut off a whopping 21 inches of a client's hair and transformed her long curls into a choppy bob.

With celebrities like Bella Hadid, Vanessa Hudgens, and Selena Gomez working the same style lately for fall, I love seeing someone who didn't already have shorter or straight hair take the plunge into the bob world. Wallace said her client wanted to change up her long, "blah" hair, and she suggested donating it. "I decided to give her a lob cut based on the consultation," Wallace explains. "She had just arrived from a two-year stay in Italy, so as I do most of my clients, I suggested updating her hair to a more modern look." And a choppy lob is about as modern as it get. Let's be real, a new celebrity seems to get one every day.

A key addition to her client's cut that you're not seeing with most of the newly bobbed celebrities is bangs. Because her hair is curly, bangs helped texturize her cut. Wallace also added some layers. Both will keep the cut from looking too heavy or triangular.

The complete transformation took about three hours, Wallace says. She gave her client a clear gloss for added shine, so that added some time. Once Wallace was done, she was eager to show the before and after. (And I definitely don't blame her.) "We are a society of show me," she says. "When I show my followers complete transformations, including what products and tools were used to achieve the look, it's as though I'm taking them on my journey. It's also gratifying to see the expression on the clients face once the transformation is completed, of course."

Okay, if I didn't just cut off a couple inches of my hair, I'd be so ready for a drastic hair change for fall. Feeling the same way? Here's some more hair cut inspo for the season.
