Filling your brows in every damn day for Instagram-levels of fullness can be a drag. One of the easiest ways to cut down on that time is eyebrow tinting, a technique several Allure editors swear by, getting their brows tinted with a vegetable dye every month. But the process is always done by a professional. A teen from Corpus Christi, TX, however, is going viral for tinting her eyebrows at home.
Gabriella Robles, who is 16 years old, posted her detailed account on Twitter back in July, but it happened to catch my eye as it's making its rounds on social media once again. She started off by posting pictures of before, during, and after the brow tinting with the caption, "So I dyed my own brows today and boy was I scared but yolo am I right ladiessss." Robles followed that up with a quick tutorial, saying the dying process only took her 10 minutes.
To start off, Robles said she made sure her brows were as clean as possible by wiping them and the surrounding area with an alcohol towelette. Next, she applied white oil paint around her brows with a tiny brush in her desired shape, so "the excess dye won't stain my skin," she added. Her thought process is spot on, but I seriously suggest not using oil paint made for art projects on your face. Your skin deserves better. Instead, please reach for a product that's supposed to be used on skin like Vaseline, coconut oil, or a white eyeliner pencil if you're planning to tint your brows at home like Robles. All of the above options are probably more readily available for you than white oil paint is anyway (and the white pencil will only cost you a dollar).
From there, Robles brushed the $8 Just For Men Mustache and Beard Hair Color onto her brows (a hack that many makeup artists use to dye models' brows back after bleaching them for a photoshoot or runway show, actually), swiping it on with an eyebrow brush to get all the hairs with precision. Then, Robles said she waited five minutes and "BAM 💥 BROWS." She completed the process by cleaning off the dye and paint with soap and water.

Once she was done, her results were pretty incredible and inspired others to try out Robles's at-home brow tinting technique for themselves.

If you're planning to tint your brows, I highly recommend seeking out a professional in your area who does it. It's quick and easy to have someone else do it, too. However, if you're in a pinch, Robles's technique might just work for you.
