Perhaps taking a cue from the wise words of Rihanna, glitter highlights have officially arrived to help us all "shine bright like a diamond." In a year that featured sparkly sneakers, shimmering lip shades and starry-eyed makeup palettes, this latest interpretation of the glitter trend is a perfect way to sparkle and shine throughout 2018.
As pointed out by Revelist, some hairstylists have created what they named "glitterage," a combination of glitter and balayage that gives hair a shimmering look like the gorgeous one by BlondEmpire, seen above. Unlike the previous release of spray-in hair glitter, this style paints on the shine in a process that's identical to what's required in getting highlights.

Once completed, the resulting styles are definitely dazzling. From a "glitter-fied" up-do to simple streaks of gold worthy of a princess, glitterage is a playful and pretty take on the makeup trend.
Unfortunately, Revelist reports that the glitter is only temporary and will likely fade after shampooing and brushing your glowing locks. It also appears that very few stylists have yet to offer the dazzling do, as Revelist notes that only a limited number of glitterage stylists appear to be showing off their works on Instagram. That being said, it's worth calling up your favorite stylist and explaining the trend; maybe they'll have a way to help you shine, too.
