Growing up in the '90s and early 2000s, the mall was where it was at. I can vividly remember traipsing through the never-ending maze of stores, sipping an Orange Julius from the food court, and eventually stumbling into one of my favorite shops: Hot Topic. With its dim interior and aloof clerks, I couldn't think of a more badass store back then. As any millennial or generation X-er remembers, it was rife with rock band tees, rings for your ears, belly button and tongue (and rings to fake those piercings as well), and of course, who could forget, the seemingly endless rainbow of Manic Panic hair dye.
Needless to say, nostalgia for the shopping destination of my adolescent years came raging back in full force when I was introduced to Amplified, a.k.a. the dope AF eye shadow palette that Hot Topic and Manic Panic teamed up to make. (I know, I know, I needed a minute, too.)
Featuring 12 high-voltage hues inspired by the classic bold hair dyes, the eye shadow palette celebrates 40 years of Manic Panic. (Now that's an excellent reason to bring an eye shadow palette into existence if I've ever heard one.) With shades like "Vampire Red," "Ultra Violet," and "Electric Banana" (yes you read that right), this launch was made for the ultimate color chameleon. But, fret not if you're more of a neutral-toned type of folk, as there are a few shadows that will fit your fancy, including white, black, a burnt-orange of sorts, and a nice sand, too.
If you ask me, the packaging alone is enough to buy this baby. Emblazoned with a distressed image of the iconic CBGB music club's bathroom wall, it showcases Tish and Snooky's names in bold scribbled print. (For those who don't know, they're the creators of the legendary hair-color brand.) Even better: The palette also comes with a double-ended brush and a mirror, which is essential IMHO.
Now, get this: For those interested, it's your lucky day, as Hot Topic just so happens to be having a 25 percent off sale right now, so you can snag this notalgia-inducing work of art for just $9, rather than its original price of $12. So, if you're anything like me and all the mall rats from the early aughts, I suggest heading over to hottopic.com to pick yours up, stat.
