I Tried Eyebrow Microblading - Before and After Microblading Photos

By now, we all know how much eyebrows can transform a face. It's the reason why even some of the most minimalist makeup routines definitely have a brow element to it. Mine included. At least, until now.

My natural eyebrows are of medium thickness. They're a little curly and more filled in towards the center of my forehead. But the tail ends of my brows? Those peter out into a sparseness that, combined with the texture of my brow hairs, looks more like a rendering of the dust ball that follows Pigpen from Peanuts around, than actual brow tail. I would usually correct this with my trusty Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Ebony. I love the triangular shape of the pencil, which makes it easy to draw those angles that will give my eyebrows the shape I desire.

But since I've gotten my eyebrows microbladed, my Brow Definer has been seeing less action. Microblading is essentially a semi-permanent tattoo for your eyebrow, created with a tool that looks like a blade, but is actually full of tiny little needles that make small cuts in your skin. The cuts look a lot like actual strands of hair, which help you create fuller and more natural-looking brows. You can get the full lowdown on microblading from our handy-dandy guide here.

Now, while I do love to play with makeup, most mornings, I barely have time to execute the kind of look I would normally like to do. And brows eat up a few minutes of the routine because, well, it's important get them perfect. So the possibility of skipping that step for a while is what sent me over for an appointment with Kendra Bray at Better Brows NYC. And, as you'll see, I'm SO glad I did.

If semi-permanent makeup isn't quite your thing, you can still fill in your brows with tried-and-true products like the cult classic Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz or the Glossier Boy Brow. And for those with curly brows like my natural ones, the It Cosmetics Brow Power Pomade has kept my textured strands in place.
