The Nyx Love You So Mochi Palettes Were Inspired By Your Favorite Frozen Yogurt Topping

UPDATE (December 22, 2017 10:00 A.M. EST): Nyx's new Love You So Mochi Palettes, which may or may not have been inspired by BTS's Jimin, just officially launched. You can shop the Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palettes now for $20 each on ulta.com and nyxcosmetics.com.

The Love You So Mochi Highlighting Palettes, on the other hand, are $19 each, and they are available on ulta.com and nyxcosmetics.com, too. BTW, the palettes will hit shelves at Ulta stores on Sunday, December 24, so it's not too late to get it for your BTS BFF for Christmas. (And you can find more gift ideas here.)

For its upcoming spring collection, Nyx took inspiration from a beloved frozen yogurt topping. People may not rush to Yogurtland for the dessert like they used to, but the love for mochi is still alive and thriving. The upcoming Love You So Mochi collection is literal proof.

The shades in the new highlighter and eye shadow palettes appear to be standard powders upon first glance. However, once you start playing around with them, you'll notice they actually have a bouncy, marshmallow-y texture, much like the Japanese rice cake they're named after. If you've used Stila's Heaven's Hue Highlighters, which went viral for its Silly Putty-like texture, then you already have an idea what Nyx's new Love You So Mochi palettes are like. Both have more of a creamy gel consistency than a powder, so they melt into skin more seamlessly.

Both the highlighter and eye shadow palettes will be available in two colorways. Let's start with the eye shadow palettes. For more low-key looks, you'll love the Sleek and Chic option. It's complete with 10 neutral shades in matte and metallic finishes like champagne, copper, and rose gold. A black is even included for those days when you want to create a smoky eye look.

Prefer something more colorful and bold? You'll want to check out the Electric Pastels eye shadow palette. You'll find a dandelion yellow, sky blue, and emerald green among the shade selection. You can count me in for that one. Each will go for $20.

As far as highlighters go, your choice may depend on your skin tone. If you're on the light-to-medium side of the complexion spectrum, Lit Life will probably flatter your skin tone best. A champagne, petal pink, and prismatic pearl make up the trio of shades.

For deeper skin tones, Arcade Glam will be your pick. Its gold, peach, and dusty rose highlighters will get you glowing. These palettes will ring up at $19 each.

My favorite aspect of the upcoming mochi-themed collection is that people on Instagram seem to be thoroughly convinced the line is an ode to a certain member of K-pop group BTS. Jimin has been lovingly nicknamed Mochi by A.R.M.Y., as BTS fans are known, in honor of his adorable cheeks. Nyx most likely didn't take this into account, but I appreciate the sentiment.

The Nyx Love You So Mochi collection was available for one day only on Cyber Monday. The cosmetics brand has yet to announce an official launch date for the palettes. I'll be sure to update this post once we have a day to mark on our calendars.
