This is because, on some level, we are all searching for the same thing: honest and genuine companionship with loved ones who we trust and feel connected to. And no matter how old you get, friendship will always be important, as the desire to form and maintain fulfilling platonic relationships never really goes away.

Just ask any of the 100-year-old (and some 100-plus-year-old) women Allure sat down with for a very special video celebrating friendship, in which they candidly share their stories of enduring friendships over the years and reflect on the qualities that make a good buddy. For instance, all of them believe that being a good listener and showing understanding, especially in tough situations, is key. "Listen and hear what's important," urges one woman.
