Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte Lipstick in Rosewood Review

TL;DR:

A soft, pink liquid lipstick that dries matte.

I am a creature of habit, so if you've ever sorted through my extensive collection of lipsticks, you might see a trend. I usually gravitate towards wearing a nude lip (though I do enjoy an electric blue or fuchsia every once in a while). Think warm browns and pinks that don't clash against my equally as warm, naturally tan skin.

When I first saw the Make Up For Ever Liquid Matte Lipstick in Rosewood in its tube, I was SO excited. It fits right in with my lipstick aesthetic (because yes, that is now a thing) and could easily be mistaken as the Kylie Lip Kit in Dolce K or MAC Whirl — both lipsticks I adore (am borderline obsessed with) and use regularly. The formula on the doe foot looked slick and thin, so I expected it to dry quick and easily.

This liquid lipstick was even better than expected. It is so special because of how it's cooler than the colors I usually adorn my lips with (it being the only cooler toned pink I have in my collection), but also a shade that stays within my comfort zone. Its swipes on and looks like a shade that is extremely close to the shade of my lips (again, a cool pinkish brown), and its doe foot makes application quick, even and easy. It has a cushy formula that feels soft as you smack your lips together, while managing to be impervious — never transferring onto the straw of the tumbler I constantly sip from during the day (or TMI, the lips of the boy I sometimes make out with). I would suggest wearing a balm before applying, to make the lipstick sit that much more comfortably.

All-in-all, it’s amazing. It’s definitely a color I would gravitate towards but better, and has — hands down — earned a permanent place in my lipstick collection.
