The One by Frederic Fekkai One and Then Some Dry Texturizing Spray Review

TL;DR:

A styling spray gives you bombshell volume and a windswept texture.

I have the kind of fine hair that’s almost always meh at the roots, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing — I’m not used to seeing myself with tons of volume, so I honestly like the way my hair dries on its own. But I am an excellent candidate for testing volumizing products, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this spray delivers.

The One by Frédéric Fekkai One and Then Some Dry Texturizing Spray gave my flat roots a boost of soft volume super quickly, and added body to the lengths of my hair, as well. If you’re after mussed, bed head texture, this isn’t the spray you want. But if you love a little volume and a soft, windswept texture where your layers just look a little more defined, this delivers — it’s like a blowout in a bottle. And unlike a lot of volumizing and texturizing sprays, it doesn’t make your hair feel too product-y — you can tell it’s in there, but just barely. It mattified my hair a little, but not as much as other texturizing sprays I’ve tried. And the next morning, when I expected my hair to feel stiff, the product was barely perceptible so I didn’t feel like I had to wash my hair. I think it even made my roots look less greasy one time when I used it three days after washing my hair.

I would say a little goes a long way. It’s got a citrusy scent that’s pretty noticeable, so I’d avoid spraying on too, too much. Unless you love the fragrance, like a friend of mine who also tested the mist. Patricia Tortolani, who I worked with at Allure, says: "It smells so good that a perfect stranger in a New York City subway car tapped my shoulder to ask what [perfume I was wearing.] And my husband prefers it to any of the actual perfumes on my vanity. Imagine a supremely chic French woman on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast — sunny, bright, effortlessly regal — that’s the scent.” I usually like warm, vanilla scents more than bright, citrusy ones, so I like using this spray with with a light hand on days when I want a little bombshell texture.
