Watching dermatologist Sandra Lee, better known as Dr. Pimple Popper, drain cysts and extract blackheads is weirdly relaxing for some people. In fact, Dr. Pimple Popper's YouTube channel has 3.4 million subscribers, and the demand for good popping content (sorry) is so strong that, earlier this year, TLC premiered a one-hour special all about the good doctor in high definition. This Is Zit premiered on January 3 in the United States and the United Kingdom, and clearly resonated with audiences, because the network just announced a full pimple-popping series will arrive on your TV this summer.
The series will include hour-long episodes wherein Lee will "poke, prod, and squeeze in order to resolve some unusual dermatological cases, as well as transform the lives of her patients," according to a press release. She'll have to don her "syringes, scalpels, and squirt-protective face masks" (sorry, again) and get down to business. Casting is now open for the series, so anyone in need of Lee's expertise can head over to the TLC website to apply to be treated by Dr. Pimple Popper's very skilled hands.
Some of the exciting things the viewers of the This Is Zit series can look forward to: massive cysts extracted from precarious places on the body (eye pimples, anyone?), dozens of white bumps removed from eyelids, and blackheads buried so deep that they require a tweezer to extract. Honestly, you never know what you're going to find when you're digging around in someone's pores — including a literal horn, like the one Dr. Pimple Popper once found in a man's scalp.
Needless to say, this show is not safe for anyone even the slightest bit squeamish. Don't forget to DVR and watch before dinner.
